Company History


Here’s a quick timeline with some milestones from the past forty-plus years.

 

1981 Chuck Carvette and Peter Brooks found Industrial Ingredients, Inc.

 

1984 The fast-growing company adds manufacturing capabilities through Mississippi Blending Company, Inc.

 

1986 Continued success requires a manufacturing expansion with a new facility in Keokuk, Iowa

 

1994 Allied Starch & Chemical is formed as the parent holding company

 

2005 The company expands through the acquisition of Ingredients Unlimited in California and Del Rancho in Texas

 

2006 The company name officially becomes Allied Blending & Ingredients, Inc.

2007 A new facility is initiated in Bell, California to address growth and expand BatchPaks™ technology

 

2011 A state-of-the-art research facility is developed in St. Louis, Missouri

 

2017 J. Rettenmaier & Sons located in Rosenberg, Germany acquires the company and expands Allied Blending, LP

 

2021 The company celebrates its 40th anniversary and looks ahead to more industry-shaping innovations and customer-focused solutions

Frederic Schulders

Chief Executive Officer

Frederic has more than 25 years of experience in flavors and ingredients for the food and beverage industries. He has held senior and general management positions in Germany, France, Switzerland and in the US. Frederic has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from ISC Paris and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Constance.


Nitin Joshi, Ph.D., CFS

Vice President of Technical Services

St. Louis, MO

 

Nitin has more than 30 years of experience working in food industry. His areas of expertise include ingredient innovation, product development, commercialization, quality improvement, cost optimization, partnership/collaboration and many others. During his professional career, Nitin has lead development of many diverse food innovations, from dairy and sauces to handheld and frozen products. Nitin is a Chair of IFT Annual Meeting Scientific Program (2022). He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Gujarat Agricultural University in India and his doctorate from South Dakota State University, Brookings. He has more than 45 publications to his credit.

 

Mark Thorne

Director of Quality Services

St. Louis, MO

 

Mark has more than 25 years of experience as a recognized food industry leader. His expertise includes all areas of corporate quality and food safety. He works in the Allied Blending R&D Facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Mark has Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Business Administration.

Tara Perry

Director of Business Operations

Keokuk, IA

 

Tara has more than 18 years of experience in sales and marketing administration. She joined Allied Blending as the Executive Assistant to the President and advanced to Customer Service Manager and Sales & Marketing Manager, before becoming Director of Business Operations. In addition to her experience with trade show and sales support, Tara has worked with Customer requirements outside the continental USA in Canada, Japan, Europe, South and Central America. Tara holds an MBA from Western Illinois University with concentrations in International Marketing, Management & Finance.

Darlene Young

Director of Finance

Keokuk, IA

 

Darlene has more than 25 years of experience in finance and accounting administration. She joined the company as the Accounting Manager and advanced to Financial Controller before becoming Director of Finance. Darlene holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Quincy University with a minor in mathematics.
